You might think that it sounds strange, but Christmas season seems one of the events to Japanese. It is because most of Japanese are Buddhists or non-religionists.
Therefore, in Japan it is thought that Christmas day is for couples spending romantic time rather than spending peaceful time with their families.

A smart card system, called ICCOCA has been introduced to JR West since Nov. 1, 2003.
It stands for IC Operating Card.
The system seems to me well-accepted by commuters.
Many countries already adopted the system several years ago, and they have used the state-of-art technology and received a lot of efficiency.
In spite that most of the technology was produced in Japan, how come the introduction to Japan was so late??
One of the reasons is our strict regulation.
In order to introduce this system, every single station had to register as a broadcasting station.
This regulation takes a lot of time and work, it is a silly regulation, isn't it?

ICCOCA takes ¥500 as a deposit besides the total amount of pass or prepaid amount.
When you cancel the card, the deposit of 500 yen will be returned to you.
It seems very convenient, and so worth a try.

One of the things we can proud of Japan is that we have four seasons. In Autumn, we are blessed with a lot of colored leaves. Here in Nagaokakyo city, there is a popular sightseeing spot for colored leaves, which is Komyoji.

In this season there are some events in Komyoji, and moreover on November 25 you can see the light up from 5 to 8 pm.

I am planning to go there.

As you may notice that issues of this jounal are getting fewer and fewer. It is no more "Almost every day journal", but "Almost weekly jouna".

We have a meeting for buyers and shop managers once a month.
Usually it is held on Wednesdays of the first week.
This month's agenda is how to meet sales target of this month and December while receiving a report of import schedule by the purchasing department.
It generally contines from 10 o'clock to around 6 o'clock in the evening having a lunch break for one hour.
What a tough meeting!

From now on, display at our shops will be changed little by little toward Christmas season.
