Sometimes, we do face the moment that we must choose one out of two or more.
It is said that Japanese people is not good at making decision in comparison with people in the western countries. It's because we are not trained making choices in earlier years.
I have heard that in the western countries, parents ask children to make choices from easy ones. For instance, in a shopping situation, parents ask children for which color of dress they want to put on, or at a restaurant setting, they ask them for which juice they would like to drink, orange or grape and so on.
Thus, they nurture children's dicisiveness.

Have you seen the movie, "Sophie's Choice" starring Meryl Streep before? The story is about the choice that she made and the rest of her life in result.
She was at the danger of being sent to Nazi's concentration camps.
However, if she cleared one condition, she could survive the situation.
She had two children, but she could bring only one with her and the rest had to be sent to the Nazi's concentration camps. If she could not make a choice, all of them must go to the concentration camps.
If you were her, what would you do?
I think this is the hardest choice of all.

If you have a chance, please check out this movie.
Get ready for a couple of hankerchieves.

Hello, there!
(^o^)(^-^)(^.^)(^_^)(^O^)
Do you know what I want to say from the above face mark?
It is very difficult for us to understand others without clear words, isn't it?
Even between couples, communication is not that easy, sometimes.
I have been studying sign language for a couple of years in order to communicate to people with impaired hearing.

I belong to a volunteer group of sign language in my city.
There is a study meeting once a week and we hold a party sometimes to interact with deaf people. Nowadays, I was too busy to join it, though.
We entertain some play or make speeches to the audience in sign language.

Believe it or not, it is more difficult to read other's sign language than express my own.

If you are interested in sign language, there is a T.V. news with sign language from 8:45 to 9:00 every night on channel 12.
Check it out!!

We have newcomers in our company recently.
On the first day, a newcomer usually makes a speech in front of all members at the meeting in our company.
How do you get acquainted with a newcomer?
Japanese likes to ask a unique question in order to reveal one's personality. It is to ask the blood type of the person.
If you have a Japanese friend, you probably have such an experience, I guess.
Although we do not take it seriously, we ask for fun.
The common traits of 4 blood type are as follows;
A-type blood : punctual, serious-minded, careful,cooperative, group-oriented
40% of Japanese belongs to this type.

O-type bloood : big-hearted, dependable, rough, leader type
30% of us belongs to this type.

B-type blood : unique personality, stubborn, creative, always being at one's pace, in other words, not cooperative
20% of Japanese

AB-type blood : smart, nervous, gifted (in art or science), analysist type
10% of us

To which blood type do you belong?
My blood type is A, but I am not punctual as you see from my Journal title, 'Almost everyday Journal'.

In case that your blood type is B and you tell your friend about it, he or she would say 'I thought so' most of the time.
Let me tell you the truth, your friend probably thinks that you are unique.

Do not take the above seriously, this is just fun.

Thank you.

Summer holiday was over...
During the holiday, Strangely enough I became an early bird. Usually I am a night owl, though.
I must have excited this holiday like kids going on a picnick or males going to play golf.
Anyway, everyone in the office seems refreshed and energetic today. Our productivity must have increased for sure after the breaks.

One of my male co-worker told me that he helped out his wife for cooking during the summer breaks. He is a good husband, isn't he? or I wonder that he might have some reason to be a good husband?? ha-ha I am just kidding.
I also started cooking my own food recently. Comparing to my mom's dishes, how can I say, the taste of mine is not just right. Sometimes it's too salty and sometimes it has no taste. While eating poor dishes, I thank my mother for great meals. My mom might have thought 'Poor daughter!' and she gave me a secret of cooking which is about the order when we put seasoning.
It was quite easy. All I need to do is to put seasoning in the order of the Japanese syllabary such as SA SHI SU SE SO.
They indicates as follows;
SA - SAtou (Sugar)
SHI - SHIo (Salt)
SU - SU (Vinegar)
SE - Syouyu (Soy sauce)
So - miSO (Soybean paste)

I would like to introduce some good recipe to you in near future.

Please visit us tomorrow again.
Thank you.

Every morning we have a meeting for 10 min. or so.
Last sales and some news are informed every member.
Today, one of our member who will resign from an office on Aug. 15, made a speech of farewell.
As I have joined this company since last November, I could work with him only for 9 months, which is a quite short time. I wanted to learn a lot more from him not only about jobs, but also about life. We have a saying, "The older the wiser".
I think he is sixty something and just in the middle of retirement age in Japan.
How old is the retirement age in your country?
Is 60 too young ? or too old ?
Being different from old days, people in their sixties are still young and energetic, I believe.
After retirement, if you still kept your youth and full of energy without any worry about money, what would you like to do? If you are workaholic and you do not have any hobbies now, you might not have any idea what to do after retirement.
Get ready for your old age.
In the United States, I have heard that people move to Florida to spend their retirement age.
How to spend old age in your country?

Actually, I have no idea how to spend my old age, but one thing for sure is that I want to live in the country.

Anyway, Good luck on your new life, MR.!!

Thank you for reading.

Some of Japanese companies have already started their summer holidays since last Saturday, and also most of the schools broke up for the summer on the 21st of July.
Because of that, it is easier for us to commute nowadays.
We, Noble Traders head office, will break up for the summer from Aug. 14 to Aug. 17, 2003. Our retail shops have different schedules of summer breaks, though.

One of our co-worker had a head start for the summer breaks, and she went to Okinawa (a Japanese island in the south) to get a scuba license.
According to her, it was a 2-day package tour designed to get a grade C license of scuba.
It cost about 60,000 yen for travelling expense including accommodation charges. In addition that, she had to pay about 10,000 yen for the registration fee of the license.
I think it is very reasonable because during the summer it is quite expensive for us to just travel to Okinawa. (Okinawa is very popular in Japan as a sightseeing resort in summer.)

In order to get the license, she had to pass both paper and practical tests. Must have been tough!
Would you like to know if she passed or not?
Of course, she did!! Great! I am very happy for her.
Receiving a charge from her, I would like to challenge something new this summer, too.

On the side, her return flight had been cancelled because of the 10th typhoon, and so she had to take one more day off.......which might have been a good news for her???

Thank you for reading.

The Season's Tenth Typhoon is approaching us toward Kansai area. Keep an eye on the weather news.

In bad weather like thunderstorm, how do you spend your time indoors? Watching TV or movies?
I sometimes like to shop by mail order.
Recently I ordered some health food such as green juice powder and Lactobacillus bifidus (which is found a lot in yogurt) capsule.
Since office work and lack of exercise made me a cold constitution, I have to change my constitution stronger.
The health book I read the other day said that it would be good to regulate the bowels and keep the body warmer.
For starters, I have decided to take these health food regularly.

What?
Did you say I should work out regulary instead of taking health food?
Are you telling me that exercise is the fastest way to improve my physical condition?

I know, I know.
But Satan whispered in my ear to take a easier way, so I take it this time. ha-ha.

May be in autum when the climate is milder, I want to work out to be fit.

Take a great care of yourself.

It's very humid.
I hope all of you survive this weather.
In Japan, we have faced a danger of electric shortage this summer, therefore, we should keep the temperature of air conditioner lower than usual. It is recommended that we should set it over 26 ℃.

Changed the subject,
We have 7 retail shops beside the online shop.
Last Saturday, I went to one of our retail shops in Osaka to help sales. I have never experienced working at stores and selling products before joining this company.
So, I was nervous but it was a good experience at last.
Communicating with customers was very fun and it's very good to know they were satisfied with our products and service.
It is a more tough and challenging job than I thought, but we can get a big reward - that is customers' smile.

Thank you for reading.
There will be no issue tomorrow....Sorry.
'cause I am taking a day off.
Have a nice day!!

Today was not a special day, but we've had a cake(yummy, yummy!) - a whole cake with a lot of fresh peach in the frig from the morning.
Everybody was wondering at heart whose cake was that.
At lunch time, we found out to whom the cake belonged.
It was a gift from one of our customers.
He comes from Thailand and stays in Japan for a short period on business.
To our surprise, he knows about Japan better than us in a sense, especially about delicious foods in Japan.

He is always welcomed by us, especially by our women staff because he often brings us some sweets. HA HA HA.
(Of course, he is also welcomed regarding business matters.)

This time was not exception.
Thank you, Mr. !
It was very delicious and we enjoyed it very much.

Hope a good surprise happen to you, too.
Thank you for reading my journal.
