Alchemist Bottger
Since
in Europe only plump and thick ceramics had been produced until 17 century,
the "White Gold" from the East was yearnings for the European
rulers more than Gold or Silver.
Royalty and aristocracy scrambled to treasure a small number of porcelain
for himself; however, eventually they started hoping for producing porcelain
in their own countries.
Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony ordered an alchemist, Johannn
Friedrich Bottger, the production of white porcelain.
In 1709 Bottger and other specialists succeeded and discovered the white
European hard porcelain over the course of trials and errors being confined
to the Albrechtsburg Castle.
Augustus the Strong who was wild with joy at the news opened the Royal-Polish-
Electoral-Saxonian Porcelain Manufactory of Meissen on the Albrechtsburg
Castle where Bottger was confined in order not to leak out this techniques.
From development
to modern times
The Meissen klin continued its development after the
death of Bottger.
The works swept over the whole of Europe and reached the very top in
the world of porcelain.
After the WW‡U, it became a state-owned manufactory called Porcelain
Manufactory Meissen. Since then, it has been producing high quality
products.
Meissen works have the crossed swords mark. It has changed the designs
variously depending on the times and articles.
In the early days, the symbol mark was drawn only on the Court porcelain.

White Tea Cup & Saucer
On the back of the cups, there are engraved 5-digit-colourless numbers
in addition to "Crossed blue swords" when you have a careful
look.
In the case of 296[2]3 on cups, 296[1]3 on saucers, The item number
of cup & saucer is 296[3]3. This formula is applicable to other
cups.
