His hobby to make pottery became his business and he established a factory at Lane End (now Longton) around 1775 and became one of Stoke-on-Trent's earliest master potters.

The theme of his products was mainly sports and political events, and he produced mostly beer mugs with transferred pictures.
His products were appreciated for his excellent depiction ability and skill while they produced homely atmosphere.

He died at Lane End on 26th February 1829, aged seventy seven. His obituary notice says, "One of the first manufacturers of porcelain in Lane End and the first lusterer".

John Aynsley ‡U

John Aynsley ‡U was very good at forecasting ahead of its time.
As soon as he believed that tea drinking got into a habit, he started making tea sets and it made a big hit.
In 1861 he moved into Stoke-on-trent, the best porcelain town in Staffordshire.

In the time of John Aynsley ‡U who was a owner and a skillful craftman, Aynsley expanded very well.
It was the Aynsley ‡V when bone china was produced at Spode kiln, but here again, Aynsley dealt with it very quickly and it continuously makes bone china only.

It is said that Queen Victoria liked the design very much, and so Aynsley was deluged with orders from nobility following royalty. As a result, production went behind.

In addition, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth II and The Prince of Wales have all chosen Aynsley bone china for their homes.
